jamel lanee spoke with chief holloway today who explained why green was allowed to keep his job after his first one. >> reporter: saint pete police chief anthony holloway suspended officer anthony green today after he was arrested for driving under the influence. pinellas county deputies discovered green behind the wheel of his personal car on golf boulevard last night. >> he was stopped, his vehicle was stopped in the middle of the street. he was found passed out. >> reporter: green, now on leave with no pa first dui arrest. he was also booked back in december of 2009. authorities say he was involved in two alcohol related hit and run crashes. green was placed on desk duty. but, was allowed back on the streets after a month's suspension following the investigation. green was given a second chance. >> he made a mistake the first time. hopefully, he found the right way to do. but he didn't. he was out there drinking

and is calling for better regulations. jana jones spoke to detectives at the saint petersburg police department who often use that software. >> reporter: sergeant kevin smith uses facial recognition software and says it is a fast way to get the investigation started. >> we get the suspect's name within a few hours. >> reporter: that is just one example. but a detective who didn't want to be on camera showed me it works. face recognition may be east accurate for african-americans. she showed me an example of one black male. >> successfully use in data base for this photograph, particularly that i got off of a website. >> reporter: and she showed me a white male search. >> the first photograph is actually this photograph. >> reporter: this study further said the accuracy is nonstandardized and overstated. i provided my own picture to

carry this pretty far to the north at this point. so we are not too concerned about this one affecting us. it is a reminder that the 2016 hurricane season is underway. that is the track from the computer models here for invest 99-l. that is what it is called. an area of investigation by the national hurricane center off of florida's east coast. this is an area during october, where these storms typically develop. this is a storm in the pacific nowhere near us but it should pass north of manila in the philippines. south of taiwan. it is headed for southern china. there have been seven category 5 systems on the planet this hurricane season. one of those, matthew in the atlantic, the rest in the pacific. as for the forecast, overnight, quiet. mostly clear skies. a few clouds throughout the day driven by a stronger easterly flow. rain chances 10% or less. good news is in the eight day forecast, a cold front headed
